
Mariana Bruce
Assistant Professor of History of the Americas III at Fluminense Federal University. Coordinator of the Contemporary Studies Center/NEC (2023-2025). PhD (2019), Master's degree (2011), and Bachelor's degree in History (2008) from the same university. Awarded 1st place in the PRONEX Prize - Historical Culture and Uses of the Past (Theses and Dissertations), and author of the book State and Democracy in the Time of Hugo Chávez (1998-2013) (FGV, 2016). She taught History and Sociology in both public and private basic education for over 10 years. Her research focuses on History with an emphasis on Power and Society in Latin America, particularly in the following areas: Latin American History, Contemporary History, the State, social movements (indigenous and popular), indigenous intellectuals, Southern epistemologies, Buen Vivir, revolution, nationalism, and plurinationalism, grassroots territorial organizations, and participatory democracy.
