Helen Rocha Rotta, PhD

About

Helen Rotta holds a PhD (2022) and an MA (2018) in Contemporary History from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, with CAPES and CNPq fellowships. Her dissertation received the Fifth Sandra Jatahy Pesavento Prize from ANPUH Brazil for best dissertation in cultural history.

She is conducting postdoctoral research at Fluminense Federal University (UFF), funded by FAPERJ, developing a project on theories of visuality, feminist epistemologies, and history, with a focus on representation, memory, emotions, and aesthetics in German totalitarianism.

She works as a professor and researcher affiliated with the Center for Contemporary Studies (NEC-UFF) and EUROPA – Center for Studies in Modern and Contemporary History. She was coordinator of the Laboratory for Studies on History, Memory, and Visualities (LEHMV) and of the Laboratory for the Historiography of European Authoritarianisms, both affiliated with NEC-UFF. She is a permanent researcher and co-leader of EAF – Feminist Epistemologies, Narratives, and Affective Politics, a CNPq research group.
