Marcus Dezemone

About

Professor of Brazilian Republican History at Fluminense Federal University (UFF) and Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ). He teaches in the Graduate Program in Social History at UFF and in the Professional Master’s Program in History Teaching (ProfHistória/UERJ). He holds a PhD, an MA, and a BA in History from UFF, as well as a BA in Law from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).

He is currently conducting postdoctoral research with a CNPq fellowship within the framework of INCT-Proprietas and the Graduate Program in History at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). He works as a consultant in the fields of the Humanities, Management, and Education, and has collaborated with the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP) since 2010.

He coordinated PIBID and the Pedagogical Residency Project in the History unit in Niterói, and has experience training candidates for the Diplomatic Career Admission Exam. He was a teacher and Deputy Director at Colégio Pedro II, Humaitá II campus.

His research focuses on the History of Republican Brazil, with an emphasis on citizenship, rights, memory, the crisis of slavery, the peasantry, politics, agrarian issues, and history teaching. He is a member of INCT Proprietas.
